- King Edward Medical University
King Edward Medical University considers the oldest institute in Pakistan. It was founded in 1860. It is established by British Raj named as Lahore Medical School. After the independence of Pakistan King Edward University become the only medical college in Pakistan. In 2005 it become a charter to award degrees in its own right.
- Government College University Lahore (GCU):
GCU is a public research university located in Lahore. It considers 2nd oldest university in Pakistan. It was founded in 1864. In 1882 it was affiliated with Punjab University. After the independence of Pakistan in 2002, it was granted university status by the government of Pakistan.
- Forman Christian College :
Forman Christian College ranked as 3rd in the oldest institutes in Pakistan. It is an independent liberal art university located in Lahore. It was founded in 1864 by American Presbyterian missionary Dr. Charles William Forman. After independence of Pakistan, is was affiliated with Punjab University. In 2004 government of Pakistan granted it the status of university.
- National College of Arts (NCA):
National College of Arts ranked as 4th in the oldest universities of Pakistan, located in Lahore. It was founded in 1875 by British Raj as Mayo School of industrial arts. After independence of Pakistan, in 1958 it was restructured by the National College of Arts. In 2001 it received university charter and allowed to issued own degrees.
- Liaquat University of Medical and Health Science:
Liaquat University of Medical and Health Science located in Jamshoro. It was founded in 1881 and ranked as 5th in the oldest university of Pakistan. It was a medical school until 1942. It was upgraded as medical college in 1942. After the independence of Pakistan in 1951, its name was changed as liaquat university of Medical and Health Science. After all in 2001 it was granted by university status.
- University of the Punjab (PU):
PU is a public research university located in Lahore. It is one of the oldest universities in Pakistan ranked as 6th. It was founded in 1882 by British Colonial Authority. After independence of Pakistan, it is still surviving as a top university of Pakistan.
- Sindh Madrastul Islam University (SMIT):
Sindh Madrastul Islam University is one of the oldest educational institutes in the Pakistan, founded in 1885 by Hassan Ali Effendi. It is a public research university. In 1944, it was promoted to a college. After the independence of Pakistan in 2012, it was charted as a university.
- University of Agriculture:
University of Agriculture located in Faisalabad. It is one of the oldest agriculture institutes in Pakistan, founded in 1906. After Pakistan’s independence, in 1961 it was upgraded as Agriculture College and Research Institutes.
- Kinnaird College for Woman University:
Kinnaird College for Woman located in Lahore. It was founded in 1913. After four year, college had stated B.A classes. After the independence of Pakistan, it is upgraded with the passage of the time. Now hi offers different degrees program.
- Government College University Faisalabad:
Government College University Faisalabad is one of the oldest universities in Pakistan. It was started its journey as primary school in 1897. In 1905 it was upgraded as high school and 1923 as college. It was elevated to the degree level in 1933 and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in1963. At the last in 2002, is granted as university status.
