He got married to Elaine Chappelle in 2001. She is a house wife and spent a long time with Dave before marriage. His mother took his special care and also supported his interest as she often had to go with his son to the clubs being a legal guardian. He studied Theater Arts and completed his graduation in the year 1991 from Washington’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts.

In 1993, when he was only nineteen years old, he made his first film ‘Robin Hood: Men In Tights’. He achieved wider reorganization by it as a youngest comedian. He performed in more films in the 90s such as ‘The Nutty Professor’, ‘Eddie Murphy’, ‘Woo, You’ve Got Mail’, ‘Half Baked’ and ‘Undercover Brother’.
